The castle of Pierrefond
It's true that they say in France the sights change a lot from city to city.
Today we went for a bike ride to another city "Pierrefond" beside Compiegne and saw the castle there. It's a mid-evil castle which was build by Louis D'Orlean, the son of Charles 3 in 1393, and then was conquered in 1617 and burned. However, Napoléon 1 had bought the castle in 1810 and Napoléon 3 restored it.
It is the first "REAL" castle that I had ever seen so it was quite exciting. It's not a castle like Versaille, which was for pleasure; It is a castle made to defend the enemies. You can find arrow slots through out the castle. There are trenches around the castle as well.
So...no sleeping beauty or Princess fiona at the top of the tower...:( I was disappointed.
Around the castle is the "city" of Pierrefond. It's way too small to be named a city though, but very pretty indeed.

Incredible pictures man! Hey, is that vintage car from a museum or something, or was that actually just someone's ride parked on the road?
I want a castle too. When I was a kid I used to sing "I'm the king of the castle and you're the dirty rascal!" hehe
