First set of Photos!
Town of Compiegne
Hey guys, I just got a chance to upload some of the photos I took around the town.
First stop is the big church Saint Jacques, built in the 13th century. It was actually the church where Jone of Arc was taken to after she had been captured ( She was also captured near Compiegne. )
There is also the city hall that was extremely beautiful. The fun thing about this city hall is that there are three mechanical figures at the top of the building that rings the bells every hour. They were supposed to the be the enemies of compiegne in a war ( which one, I am not exactly sure :P ). I suppose it is to symbolize that they are captured to serve the people of Compiegne forever.

The town itself is pretty small, even when compared to Waterloo. However, the archtitectures of the buildings and the atmosphere are very...shall we say...friendly. People take time to decorate their houses. You can often see a nice bouquet of flowers on the window ledges. The almost of the street lights have bouquets of flowers attached to them. The town is also very clean, people actually make the effort to put their trash in the garbage can :)
Food wise, it's also extremely different. First of all, most "restaurants" only serve main course at certain time. Lunch at 12:00 - 2:00 and dinner at 7:00 - 9:00. It's is some times inconvinent, but there are small private places that serve food all day long. There is one crepe place that serves very good crepes. The cool thing about this place is that they make the crepes in different shapes from day to day. I found it very interesting and declicious, definitely going back more often. Price wise, it's a little expensive, 10 Euros ( about 16 canadians ) for a main course and dessert, but the service and food you get is well worth the price.
That's pretty much all I have discovered about the town. I will keep updating as I travel a bit more!
